Kotor, Montenegro

Today we were still cruising the seas till around lunchtime, before anyone was able to get off at the port of Kotor in the relatively new country of Montenegro (formally Yugoslavia).

We decided to go to the pool deck fairly early and try our hand at bingo! Yay. We were pumped, but clearly not too many others were. We bought our card of 6 games and then ended up getting a refund due to a lack of players. This meant though that they let us keep the cards for next time, even after the refund was given! Winner!

After enquiring about the docking times, we headed for an early lunch and then back out the pool deck. There is such a great atmosphere on the ship. All the guests and staff are really friendly and we have had a great time so far.

Unfortunately, we ended up having to wait a while to get our tender boat into the dock. The ship is too big for the port itself, so staff need to throw the anchor in and then all the passengers are unloaded by four tender boats - basically little ferries. We had boat ticket 13, so it ended up being a cheeky cocktail by the pool to fill in time! The things you have to do whilst on holidays! Woot!

Kotor is a city dominated by the surrounding mountains and is situated on the Adriatic coastline. It is a neighboring country of Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. The Old Town area is tourist centred and well maintained, but around the outer areas it is clear that there is a need to make improvements and progression in general. We walked around for an hour or so and were so hot that the ship lured us back! It was worth it.

Originally we had organised three choices of days trips with the shore excursion desk, but unfortunately all three lacked an acceptable level of participants! Damn!! Come on oldies liven the hell up. We had sea kayaking first up...no go, then a 6 hour cycling tour...no go, then a cruise around to crystal clear swimming waters and free time at Jaz Beach...NO GO! We think that our cruise line needed a certain amount of people to get their kick back, so we had to organise ourselves.

We stayed out at the pool till the end of the first half of the Portugal - Denmark UEFA match. The big screen out by the pool is a wicked way to relax and watch sport! We could certainly get used to this style of living.

Dinner had an Italian flavour and again we really loved our choices. We met some more really nice people sitting either side of us in their tables of two. There seem to be heaps of Americans and people from the UK on this ship. Tonight we were sitting nearby some Canadians (who were actually English) and some more Scots...we think!

With an all day sail for tomorrow, it was definitely going to be a bit of night out! First stop Casino Royale! No love tonight...Buddy Franklin (23) was in hiding as were all the high in the third third! Next stop the Viking Lounge. We arrived just in time for the 90s hour. It was a bit of fun dancing up a storm to the likes of You Can't Touch This and Ice-Ice Baby. Hahaha...the real youngies weren't loving it as much.

We were entertained all night by dancing nan! She was hilarious. This old grey haired Asian lady was loving it out there. She was even cutting it up on her own, when no-one was dancing! Hilarious!!!! The new music started up around 11:30 and the place came alive. There wasn't a massive crowd, but everyone was basically dancing around together!

We finished up just after two, when most people left. We had had a ball and enjoyed our day and finished it off with heaps of laughing and singing and generally loving life (except for Tanya's feet).
