We HAVE a bigger boat!

Tan: It may have been retired for many years, but the Able Tasman was a nightmare scarred into my brain! Sick, OMG I was sick, but I think riding the evil waves of Bass Strait will be a far cry from the travel on this ship!

Bigger ship....hell yeah! Jaws ain't gettin' us here!

Not an overly eventful day, but a very typical holiday pace that we have sadly gotten used to! This morning we had to check out of our awesome hotel. This place was fantastic. Other than the brilliant location that we mentioned in our previous post, the shower was massive. Most other places were barely big enough to dry yourself in, of they had one of those funky hand held shower things. Hate those things!

After checking out, we headed straight out and bought a ticket on the water bus to the cruise ship port. That was easy enough, but oh so scenic and a cruise in itself. Jumping off we then took a short monorail to our final destination. At the ship terminal, we stupidly ticked yes to a cold / flu / runny nose in the past 7 days. Well that ended up being a half an hour wait to be checked out by the nurse, who was seemingly on the look out for bird flu. Surprise, surprise, neither of us had a fever. We were cleared then it was off to board. Phew!

WOW! This ship is unbelievable! It is American, so we were a little worried that it could be tacky....how wrong we were. It is so well decorated, with so many places to sit down and relax. We love all the cool seating around and the music playing in the background.

We had a bit of lunch and then headed to our room. If anyone is planning on a cruise, we would highly recommend upgrading to the balcony room, or a suite if you have spare cash! We went for the balcony to access a view and fresh air in the privacy of our own room. GOOD MOVE! So, so happy with this decision.

After unpacking and getting settled, we cruised around exploring the ship and ended up kicking back in the main pool area's jacuzzi section for a while. Nice! They had the UEFA up on the massive outdoor screen, without the sound. This was so we could still kick back and listen to the band.

Tan: I lost my hat! My new hat! Only bought it in Rome a week ago!!!!!!! Admittedly I had lost a cap in London somewhere weeks earlier and I had had two other goes at leaving my new one on a couple of trains. Damn, I really liked that one and had so many compliments on it. The randoms were loving it and so was I. I think some water busian got lucky. Aaaarrrhhh! Oh well more shopping in my future.

After a shower and a freshen up, we headed off to one of the bars for a drink and a bit of trivia. Winner! Of course we won! The funny thing was though that it was bloody hard. We were clear leaders finishing on 7 out of 15 (not even 50%). Two massive fridge magnets for our trouble and the glory of the win. Love a competition!! Woot! PS - our team name was Team RaT.

Rolling onwards to dinner, it far surpassed our expectations. We had originally thought that it was going to be a big table of 10 each night, but it wasn't the case. It was very fancy pants and almost overkill with wait staff. There were quite a few choices for each course of three on the menu and they even brought out a healthy choice menu.

The hierarchy of the waiters was quite amusing. Firstly we were seated by a maitre d' type, then we were introduced to our waiter Austin. He had a side kick named George, who seemed to be on bread and clearing. Not long after, our section barman came out and introduced himself and took our drink order. Then the section boss came over. He was from Turkey and all we remember of him was that his jacket was way too big and that he needed to give Don Johnson back his shoulder pads! Too funny.

It was quite a strange day in the end, given that we got in the cruise today, but it didn't actually leave the port. Tomorrow it is leaving for Montenegro after lunch. Until then, we can get on and off the ship as we please. In the morning we are planning on walking around the crazy maze of Venice streets again for a final look.

Tan: If I see my hat! Watch out I'll be coming for ya! Hahahaha....I miss my hat.
