Roma to Verona!

Not too early a wake up this morning, but in our usual fashion there may have been a little stress from lateness. Let's just say that we were cutting it a little fine! We'll learn just as we arrive back in Melbourne! Hahahaha!!

Off to Verona today. The train ride was easy and smooth and took a little under 3 hours. As we've both been feeling a bit under the weather lately, we took some cold and flu tablets just before we disembarked from the train. Not a good move. We checked into the hotel and went out for lunch. We both ended up being sooooo incredibly drowsy that we went straight back to the hotel and smashed out a four hour rest! Note to selves - no drugs during the day....other than a cheeky drink!

When we eventually woke up and got ourselves back on track, it was about 8pm by the time we left again. Off to the river area. The Bridge Castle is virtually right next to us, so we took a walk through the castle area that was still open, which got us to the other side of the river. We absolutely love random buskers! We spotted a four piece band on the castle's bridge. Cool!

Verona is another city with a long history and beautiful look. We loved the river area and the spectacular view of Old Town from the castle. Not hard to spot a duomo in the distance. Catholicism is loud and proud here!

At our first duomo (cathedral) stop, we luckily came across a small orchestra practising out the front for what looked like an up coming concert. The music was so easy on the ear and it added to the already balmy evening. Thanks peeps!

Along the way we saw another duomo where people looked to be attending a mass. We walked on quite quickly from there and started taking some pics. An older Italian man stopped so as not to interrupt the photo, then proceeded to have a full conversation with us. This was great, other than the fact that he was only speaking in Italiano!! A few times we said "scusa, non capisco!" this didn't seem to worry him, he was in for a chat. We eventually pried ourselves away from him. If he had've been in a restaurant or at the counter of a shop, our Italian may have been ok!!

We stumbled across a different piazza area from the one from lunch and this square was right amongst the important sites of Verona. After a delicious dinner in this area, we found Juliette's house and balcony, but it was closed off. It was quite late by this time, so we will endeavour to see it the next day or so.
