Edinburgh, so cool, but soooo cool!

Tan: It is the final month of Spring here, but today was freezing. We rugged up for our big day out in Edinburgh and headed straight for the castle.

The wireless in the apartment is awesome, so we booked online and snagged the skip the line tickets. No extra charge for those, which was surprising to see quite a few people lined up in the regular line.

We took our time to explore this magnificent castle and enjoyed learning about the amount of times it changed hands, with varying monarchs or through sieges won or lost by the English or Scots. Is Robert The Bruce's middle name The? Hahahaha

After a good few hours twisting and turning through the castle grounds, we headed out for lunch on the Royal Mile. It was delicious and warm in there after an absolutely freezing morning out and about!

We decided after lunch that we still wanted to do something else whilst in Edinburgh, rather than go back to the apartment early and complain about the cold, so we headed to the Edinburgh Dungeon! It was an entertaining look back on the devious undertakings of some of Edinburgh's most infamous citizens. It was funny, really well done and at times quite scary. The Dungeon was basically done all in the dark and things kept touching my arm or brushing over my head or BANG a loud noise would startle the crap out of me! I would recommend going if you get the chance.

We finished the night off with a visit to one of the local pubs for dinner and drinks. It was pretty packed in there once we'd finished. Luckily it was only opposite out apartment, so just a short stroll home in the freezing 5 degree weather!

Rich: We spent a few hours listening to some fascinating history about Edinburgh whilst wandering the grounds of the castle. It was very interesting to learn about the power struggle between the Scots and the English as well as how they became known as being 'careful' with their money. Choosing 1pm rather than 12pm for their tradition to fire a cannon meant that only one cannonball needed to be spent.

We then headed down the Royal Mile for lunch before our trip to the Edinburgh Dungeons which finished off with a maze made up of mirrors. It was quite a bit of fun trying to work our way out.

The afternoon was spent back at the apartment where the other three had a bit of a kip. Eventually we headed back out and found a place to eat where I could enjoy a spot of the Talisker 10 year old single malt with my dinner.
