It's a bit drafty in this kilt!

Tan: I keep waking up super early, but at least this morning I made it through to 6:30! Wooohoo! Everyone was loving the fact that we were forced to eat breakfast late after a nice sleep in. After another beautiful breaky, it was off on our next journey northward bound.

We got to Carlisle Castle about 10:30, which was ok, but didn't really compare with Kenilworth Castle from yesterday.

We decided to keep on moving and headed into Scotland for lunch - albeit a late lunch. We opted not to go to the pub today, but ate at a great little Italian cafe. Everyone gave their food the thumbs up!

Talk about an awesome location, our flat here is right in Old Town, literally around the corner from The Royal Mile in Grassmere.

Today we did the Scotch Whiskey experience, walked the return journey of the Royal Mile and Richard and I walked up the Arthur's Seat trail in Holyrood Park. The views were well worth the steep trek! Another great day finished off with some fish and chips back in the apartment with a few quiet drinks!

Rich: We left Windermere after a latish breakfast and drove northwards along some winding roads through a picturesque landscape towards the city of Carlisle to visit the castle there.

After a brief visit and seeing a much smaller castle than Kenilworth, we hopped back onto the M6 and were headed towards Edinburgh.

Arriving in the Scottish capital around mid afternoon, we checked in to our apartment and headed out for a small bite to eat before we wandered around the city.

First stop was the top of the Royal Mile where we found the Scottish Whisky Experience. It involved an introductory lesson on how scotch whisky is made whilst riding through the exhibition in a barrel, and finishing up with a taste of some single malt. We also saw the largest collection of scotch whisky in the world. Amazing!

After continuing down the Royal Mile we made our way to the base of Arthur's Seat. Leaving Ray and Lyn behind, we made our climb up this steep crag in a rather brisk pace and I soon found myself puffing a fair bit. Tan on the other hand was powering along as usual. Eventually we turned around, headed back down for the return journey to a pub for a drink, then a spot of fish and chips back at the apartment.
