Touring London Town!

Day 3 in London shaped up to be a great day! We headed out early with our sights set on Westminster. We opted to take the bus and soon found out that all traffic was being blocked off around that area because one cheeky queen was delivering her speech to parliament! In most recent times, this has only been done every two years, so it was a big deal!

We ended up taking a quick train to a nearby area and took a Thames River cruise to Greenwich and knew that we were able to see the minister later on in the day.

Greenwich was an interesting place, with definitely less bustle. The tourist info centre was actually really well done, with an interactive history display of how Greenwich had changed over time (boom, boom)! We saw the Prime Meridian, which was cool, but we were too tight to pay the entry fee to stand for a pic at either side of the longitudinal line of 0"0'00 degrees! We also saw the workers building the equestrian site for the London Olympics.

Tan: We lunched at the Greenwich brewery and I had an awesome, awesome pumpkin soup! OMG I want it again! Yummy!!!!!!!

Rich: I was keen for a bit of stew in England and finally found some pork stew at the brewery and it was delicious!

We headed off back on the boat for the return journey and got out at The Tower of London. It started raining and so it was lucky that we were going to be inside. The crown jewels put the jewels at Edinburgh Castle to shame! This was another great place to explore, with lots to see and learn about.

Rich: I was in absolute awe of the gold and general wealth of the monarchs and sheer desire to spend at will for ceremony! I really enjoyed looking back at the historical weapons and armour that was on display.

Next stop: The London Bridge Experience and Dungeon. This was really funny and again the live actors did a brilliant job trying to scare us whilst we stepped back in time learning about the history of the bridge. It was a maze in there and so well thought through and really worth doing. This was another thing included in the London Pass, which had been great value for us!

We took the nice walk along Southwark, hoping to get back to Westminster but it was too late and so we went searching for dinner. We ate at a brilliant Mexican restaurant near Trafalgar Square, whilst sharing a jug of margaritas. With our bellies full, we started to head back to the apartment.

On our way back, whilst working out the directions we came across a cacophony of screaming teenagers. With the noise piquing our interest, we headed over to see what the commotion was about. Not long after a black limo drove through the barriers right near us and we saw Johnny Depp!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!

Tan: Richard even admitted to me that he was like a screaming teenage girl! It was so cool. We were pumped up for ages after our random sighting!

Rich: Paparazzi fail! I couldn't work the quick enough to get a shot of Captain Jack!
