Sunny England .....

Rich: First stop after leaving Bath today was to see the mysterious Stonehenge. We had a great day ahead of us staring at the window wipers and all the rain that was coming down. Luckily for us as we pulled up to the Stonehenge car park, the rain had ceased, and we had a nice opportunity to listen to all the history about this magical wonder.

Next stop, a bit of lunch in Oxford. We got into town, found a nice pub called The Crown tucked into a little alleyway off what looked like a main shopping strip. With a chicken and bacon toasted sandwich in one hand and a pint of Peroni in the other, life was good...

We had to eat and down our drinks in a very short time. A few sips less than a pint in a couple of minutes was a pretty tall order. Ray and I both completed our beers and we were out the door to get to our 2 o'clock tour of Oxford.

After the tour, we got back on the bus and headed back to our car for the drive to Statford-upon-Avon. Some curry and beer for dinner, another night's rest and we'll get a few hours to sightsee around the town before the next day's journey.

Tan: Loved today! I couldn't believe that we were standing there looking and walking around Stonehenge, still quite surreal.

After a latish start, we decided to make a half day stop in Oxford, which was definitely worth the extra effort. Our tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and really enthusiastic! Lunch was smashed down in order to make the 2pm tour. Awesome tour, but not awesome = busting for the toilet for 1 1/2 hours whilst on the tour from hurrying down the beers just before it!

Made our way to Stratford in the arvo. Really happy with the free app GPS on the IPad. Had a beautiful pub meal again, but this time people were able to sit back and enjoy at a leisurely pace!

  1. Hey Tan, love the photo of the two of you at Stonehenge. It's funny isn't it how a bunch of rocks can be so fasinating.
When I lived in England I went to visit and the family I lived with didn't really get why I'd make such a fuss. Really? It is something special.
