An engaging outing!

We know, we know... another great day! So many! We are continually awe inspired by our surroundings and realise how new and different life in Australia really is. Don't get us wrong, we love where we live and our country, but stuff here is old and historical and nothing like we know at home.

Today, crazy....First stop: le Tour Eiffel! We waited a while as two of the lifts were out if action, so it was going to be a 2 hour wait to get to the top. After an hour, which wasn't too bad, we decided to walk the stairs to the second level and then a lift to the summit. This was awesome - exercise, we saved money and also lots of time.

Tan: We finally made it to the top, almost 300 metres. Richard was looking a little dodgy, then before I knew it he popped the question! Perfect! In Paris on the highest level of the Eiffel overlooking the Seine - gorgeous! Well done babe!

After a celebratory champers on the Eiffel (yes actual French Champaign in France), it was off to the Louvre museum! Of course knowing our history, we were under time pressure as it took longer than expected to get down from the Eiffel with the lines of people. We ended up running an Amazing Race style back to the museum to make our tour. We were last there, but we just made it! Thank god the train system here in Paris is really easy.

We were given a headset to listen to our guide as she rattled of numerous pieces of history and info through her Madonna style mic. We liked this, as she never needed to shout and the slow pokes could catch up if they were behind, but could still listen to her.

The Louvre is huge, the foyer is bigger than the Benalla Art Gallery! Hahahaha! Our mere 3 and a bit hours only really allowed us to see the most famous pieces of art, but skipping the line made this 3 hours very worthwhile. You could easily spend another whole day there.

We headed outside and sat around the fountain around the pyramid and soaked up the atmosphere. No we weren't sucked into buying a miniature Eiffel Tower from all the street sellers that were lurking about!

Off home back to the apartment to post our wonderful news, then out to another beautiful French meal at a restaurant close to apartment. Escargot was on the menu, but not cheese!!!!
