Heading south, sort of....

Tan & Rich: We got up in York at our little pub just outside the walled area and found a great little cafe for breakfast. Everyone really liked York, with its long history and quaintness!

We wanted to do just one more thing before departing southward bound. The maze was on our agenda, but closed for business when we got there! Damn! So we headed off towards Nottinghamshire in search of Robin Hood!

Our B&B was on a farm, in the middle of nowhere and was just how we'd envisaged a B&B to be - doilies and lacework a plenty! (Rie, you would have been in lace heaven). The owner was an elderly lady named June, who was lovely. She loved a chat and gave both Ray and Tanya a run for their money - and that's saying something!

We pretty much dropped our bags off at midday and headed further south to the city of Nottingham. We were way further out of the city than we thought when it was booked, oh well, but we did enjoy our location.

We took a beautiful scenic drive through parts of Sherwood Forest and stopped off for lunch near the Major Oak. This tree is estimated to be 1190 years old and still growing. These days its monstrous limbs need to be propped up - you would too if you were that old!

In the city of Nottingham itself we had to go back to paper maps and the road directory, as we hadn't keyed it into the gps when we had wifi. One of the maps was like reading the Age and and made the job as navigator difficult! Tan: I admit I may have turned it round a few times and I had no idea trying to refold it!

Tan & Rich: We walked around the city and ended up going to see the Avengers and then having Japanese for dinner - food that is, not unsuspecting tourists. Again with the old school navigation system, we managed to find our way back up north to the B&B...just! Bloody bunnies everywhere. We almost got rear ended when we slammed on the breaks!
